Injured
The dreaded word no triathlete or runner ever wants to hear. I experienced some knee issues while running the La Crosse half marathon just a week and a half ago. About mile 5 I got a shooting pain in my right knee. Ran a bit more and it happened again almost taking me down. At the advice of my cousin, I headed up to the middle of the road where there was less of an incline. That seemed to help for a while but the paid was getting worse about mile 9. 10-12 were absolutely miserable and all I could think of was how early in the season it was and all the races I am signed up for...to include 2 Olympic distance Tri's in June, a Half-Iron distance Tri in July, a Cycling time trial in June and a Matathon in December. Great!
So I ran for the first time tonight....well, tried to. Less than a mile. Ugh! This is really sucky. i have an appointment with Orthopedics Monday. Hope they have good news for me.

It's been a couple weeks...
Well, I haven't ever been good about consistency in posting. Sorry about that. Life just takes up so much time. I have been extremely busy at work. I've been on a computer conversion project for the last 15 months and we recently went through our final conversion and go-live. Thisgs are looking up to say the least. I work for the University of WI-La Crosse and we are converting our entire student system. As you can imagine, there's a lot of data. I am on the financial end of things (student bills) so of course accuracy is important. At any rate, things should start to slow down a bit in th enext few weeks and I might actually want to be on the computer more often during off-working hours.
Training continues. 6 weeks to the LaCrosse half marathon. My mileage is steadily increasing much to my dismay! Man, I should just be a biker chick and move on with my life. I just don't love to run. But I do it. Yesterday was an 8 miler and it went ok. It was hard but I managed to finish in 76 minuted and was happy with that. I didn't have my Garmin as my hubby was out for a 16 miler and needed it so I think I may have been 1/4 mile short on my distance. Still under 10 min miles though. I wish I could be faster but I just don't have the drive once I'm out there. Mental issues you know! :)
Swimming needs some focus. I just completed an 8 week "class" which I will miss. It was good to have someone looking at and correcting my form. It also assured me at least one visit to the pool per week. I need to stick with it.
I plan to hit the roads with the new bike today. I will need to be careful of sand on the roads as they just aren't clean yet. Should be fun!
